Safaaaaaaaaaari!

Ok friends and fans. We are still working on keeping you up to date with our summer adventures (even though its now Fall!). On a rainy midweek day, my family and I headed out to Six Flags for the new Safari.I vaguely remember the safari adventure as a child: driving through a burning hot desert of a zoo in a busted up mini van with no air conditioning. The highlight of that day would most certainly be a giraffe putting its entire head into our van to eat a banana from my mother - yes, rule breakers! This 2013 trip was MUCH better!

As we entered the park, we were informed that no major rides were running due to rain. It wasn't yet raining.... Cheerfully, we entered, hopeful that the rain would never come and the rides would soon reopen. After lunch and several on and off showers, we decided to get in the Safari line and just hope that it would reopen. We were in LUCK - after sending the guys back to the car to stow the stroller, the line started moving!!!

After waiting for ONLY 90 minutes (Hahahaha....) and Charlotte falling fast asleep while waiting in line, we boarded the safari and saw some pretty incredible creatures. I am sharing a few here. Once again I am grateful to my sister and second shooter Virginia for taking these pictures because although saying the terrain was rough would be an understatement, Charlotte stayed asleep for 95% of the trip!

In the end, it was worth the wait when the little one woke up just in time to see the BIG CATS! I'm pretty sure that's all she cared to see anyway.

Meow on, my friends. :)
